In 1966 Matthew E “Pete” Jackson and W.H. “Bill” Lee built a new building of 11,000 sq. ft. on six acres at Clark Street and State Road 75 to house Jackson-Lee, Inc. a John Deere dealership.
Then in 1972, William J. “Bill” Pearson, a northwestern Carroll County farmer, purchased 1/3rd interest, resulting in Jackson-Lee-Pearson, Inc. as it remains today. During the 1970s an additional 20,000 sq ft. of buildings was put under roof. In 1979, Lee retired and sold to Jackson and Pearson. In 1989, Jackson sold to Pearson, making him the sole owner. In 1991, Bill Pearson acquired the Deere dealership in Frankfort, which also operates under the name of Jackson-Lee-Pearson, Inc. Bill’s son, Jason, joined the business two years later and became manager of the Frankfort location.
Over the years the size of implements has increased dramatically which led in 2001 to the purchase of the Allegiance Wire building just to the east of the original site, remodeling it into administrative offices and service area for tractors, combines and lawn and garden equipment. The original building houses sales offices, parts sales, and a lawn and garden showroom.
In 2003 the business started an internet merchandise business carrying everything from apparel to party supplies and more now located in the newly remodeled main showroom.
In 2007 a new roof was added to the original structure and remodeling in the parts showroom. Future improvement plans include putting new sheet metal on the exterior of the structure and remodeling of the lawn & garden showroom. Additionally in 2007, Jason W Pearson, manager of the Frankfort location begun the purchase of Jackson-Lee-Pearson, Inc. from sole owner, his father, Bill Pearson.
In the 1950s, there were ten major farm equipment manufacturers represented in Carroll County. Due to mergers and takeovers, the original ten manufactures are now down to six. Of these, only John Deere maintains its original identity and Jackson-Lee-Pearson, Inc. is the only major full line implement dealer in Carroll County.
